INTRODUCTION

We praise God that, after 16 months, BCEC will launch our ministries for in-person ministry including worship services on the weekend of July 23-25. We are excited for the opportunity to worship together in-person and we are doing our best to ensure a safe worship environment.

Both campuses, however, have space limitations due to renovations to their main worship spaces. We ask for your prayers, patience, and cooperation as we relaunch. The Newton Campus sanctuary will not be available, which means that the primary worship spaces will be the Fellowship Hall on the main level and the Multipurpose Room on the lower level. The Chinatown Campus at 120 Shawmut Ave will have the Multi-Function Room (formerly known as the “Dining Hall”) and Room 232-234 available for worship. The auditorium at the Josiah Quincy Elementary School is undergoing renovations and is unavailable.

Since we have populations in our church who may be at greater risk to COVID-19, including children, elderly, and those who are immunocompromised, we want to match the level of restrictions used in similar institutions such as schools and hospitals. In order to protect the most vulnerable among us, the Church-wide Response Team (CRT) has implemented safety protocols, including masking and pre-registration, since social distancing is not possible. Below are frequently asked questions. Please reach out to the CRT if you have any questions or concerns at crt@bcec.net

What if I travel domestically or internationally?

For those who travel internationally or domestically, they must review and follow CDC guidelines. International visitors must follow CDC guidelines before visiting BCEC.

How are we handling food and beverages?

There will be no food or drink inside our facilities on Sundays until further notice, at least through the summer. We encourage you to enjoy your food and drink outdoors before or after church.

Am I allowed to hang out at church even if I am not attending a program?

Because of our inability to social distance indoors, there will be no loitering before or after service. Outdoor options on our campuses include the garden and outdoor deck at Chinatown Campus or the playground area at Newton Campus. Be mindful of our neighbors and avoid crowding the sidewalks.

How will the sacraments be practiced?

For the Lord’s Supper, we will utilize prepackaged communion kits. For Baptism, we will continue to sprinkle until further notice.
