What’s New in BCEC
2025 BCEC Town Hall will be held in person at the Josiah Quincy Upper School (900 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02111, Auditorium) and live-streamed two-way to Newton Campus (218 Walnut Street, Sanctuary) on Sunday, October 19, 1:15-3:00pm. It will be held in English with Cantonese and Mandarin translation. We encourage our BCEC members to attend the Town Hall to become fully informed about the FY25-26 General Fund, Mission Fund, Charity Fund and Expansion Fund budgets. In addition, the draft of the FY24-25 Financial Report will be presented. Light refreshments (baos) will be provided.
Commissioning is a ceremony whereby the church recognizes an individual’s character, gifting, and current call into full time Christian service. The commissioning of Louis Leung and Jiabing Wang was approved by the Board of Elders and the Board of Deacons. The commissioning ceremony will be held during the annual meeting, 2pm on October 26. 2025 BCEC Annual Congregation Meeting will be held in person at the Josiah Quincy Upper School (900 Washington Street, Auditorium), on Sunday, October 26, 2:00-4:00pm. We will not be providing online streaming. All BCEC members are encouraged to attend this important church wide annual meeting. We will be voting for deacons (see their bios HERE) and budgets for next year. Light refreshments will be provided at the end of the meeting. Please plan to join us! Chinatown Herald Garage Parking Update
New Ticketing System Starts October 10, 2025We are blessed to offer free parking at the Herald Street Garage for those participating in BCEC ministries. Starting October 10, we will be transitioning from the permit system to a ticket-based system.
What to Expect:
- Take a parking ticket when you enter the garage.
- Keep your ticket, as it is required to exit.
- Validate your ticket at the machine located at 120 Shawmut Ave lobby (welcome desk). Please note: this lobby is locked after 2:00 PM on Sundays.
- Without validation, you will be charged, even if you attended church or a ministry.
Reminders:
- All other existing parking policies remain in effect, including that parking is limited to those participating in BCEC ministries on the day of.
- It is your responsibility to get your ticket validated.
- Free parking is available only during weekend ministry hours.
- For building access, please contact your ministry leader.

Chinatown Campus
BCEC Community Sports Broomball season has begun and continues every Sunday through mid-November! Come by to watch the games starting at 1PM in the Josiah Quincy Upper School gym.

BCEC Visioning Process
UPDATE: The BCEC Vision Discernment process has progressed to Stage 4 (Look Ahead). In this stage, the Vision Team is seeking clarity for God’s direction regarding whom BCEC is called to reach and serve over the next decade.

Staffing Update
After more than 20 years of faithful service, Connie Ho, our Chinese Secretary at the Chinatown Campus, has announced her decision to retire, effective December 31, 2025. Connie began serving at BCEC in September 2004 and has been a vital part of supporting our Chinese ministries through seasons of growth and change. We are grateful for her dedication, her heart for ministry, and the many ways she has served the church family over the years. We praise God for Connie’s faithfulness and pray for His continued guidance and blessings in this next chapter of her life.Chinatown Campus News

Water Damage Repair at 120 Shawmut We appreciate your prayers and concern regarding the recent storms damage. Repairs are underway to fix the roof leaks and restore the affected areas on the third floor. Thankfully, insurance will cover the costs. For any questions, please contact the facility staff.

Cross-Campus Group Updates
Try Alpha. Curious about life? about faith? about God? Alpha is a space to explore the Christian faith and discuss your questions with people who are just like you. There’s 13 sessions, and each session has food, film, and a discussion where it’s an opportunity for you to say whatever you like in an informal, relaxed way. You can join in or say nothing at all; totally up to you. No matter what your background or belief, you’re all welcome. If you know friends or family who may be interested, please invite them. If you have children or teenagers, there is a children’s program and a youth group at the same time. Alpha, every Friday at Newton campus, starting 9/26 at 6:45pm. Opportunities to Serve
Social Responsibility Ministry Partner Events
Boston Rescue Mission The Chinatown Respite Care hosts monthly sessions for kids with disabilities where they engage in Christian activities and provides parents and caretakers a chance to de-stress. The next two sessions will be on October 18th and November 15th between 4-8 PM at 120 Shawmut. We welcome those who have prior experience with CRC and those who are new with no experience but can commit to at least 2 sessions to participate. We unfortunately do not provide volunteer hours. Children’s Sunday School Are you passionate about sharing God’s love with the next generation? Do you have a heart for children and a desire to help them grow in their faith? We are looking for a teacher to teach a small group of 6 and 7 year old children to start teaching this September. Classes run from 11am to 12:30pm every Sunday. Volunteers should be baptized believers and preferably members. Please contact Lorraine Ho if interested.
Sunday Service Teams are looking for volunteers to serve the Chinatown English congregation in its Sunday worship services. If you’re interested in joining the Worship Team, Tech Team, or Hospitality Team, please email enoch.liao@bcec.net.

Parking Reminders
Chinatown Campus Sunday Parking
Please do not park in the 120 Shawmut parking lot on Sundays, as it is reserved for staff and guest speakers only. Parking is available at the Herald Street Garage for those with a valid parking permit. Temporary parking passes are available at all welcome tables.Newton Campus Parking
Please do not park at the Trio lot, as unauthorized vehicles parked there will be towed. Please be mindful when parking on the streets to not block any driveways. Also, the staff parking lot on Sundays is for staff and guest speakers only.Parking Reminder Out of courtesy for our neighbors, and in response to recent complaints, we kindly ask that you do not park within five feet of driveways. Parking too close makes it difficult for residents to enter and exit safely. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain good relationships with our neighbors.
